3rd Week Notices

Written by OUFC Webmaster. Posted in News

Hi everyone,

I hope you have all had a good first couple of weeks of term. A few important notices this week so please take note of below.

Membership Fees

Please continue to get your membership forms and fees to Grace. This is due by this coming Saturday.

Both the paper membership form and payment is required to complete your membership, and the bank account details can be found either in the club (e-)mail-out, or through getting in touch with the treasurer.

Kit Cupboards

Please remember to put all kit away tidily in the lockers at the end of each session. This is as a courtesy to whoever is going to use it next and means the coaches are not required to do a massive tidy up at the end of each session.

All jackets need to be put away, zipped up on hangers.

BUCS Results

The Men’s Assassins recorded OUFC’s first team victory of the season last week with a crushing 135-72 victory over Loughborough last Wednesday. Special mention to go to freshers Sam Bradley and Liam Stigant, who performed very well in their first outings for the club.

BBO Results

Congratulations to Becky Martin and Idalina Baptista who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at the Berkshire Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire County Foil Championships last week. A great result for both of them.

Top 10

I am pleased to announce that OUFC once again has a fencer ranked within the top 10 in the British Rankings with Emma-Tina Segall making it up to 9th place for the October rankings. A massive congratulations to her.

I hope you all have a fantastic week and to all those competing this coming weekend in either the Elite Epee or Leon Paul Foil Open, good luck!

Best wishes,

Ali

Beginners: 1st week fencing and social

Written by OUFC Webmaster. Posted in News

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone who went enjoyed the taster and is keen to continue, and for those who couldn’t make it or didn’t hear in time worry not! You are welcome to start by coming to one of the beginner foil classes this week.

Training

There is going to be a session on Friday 17th October at 4:00-5:30pm and another on Sunday 19th 3:30-5:00pm. There’s also a beginner epee on Saturday 18th at 11:30am-1:00pm. If you are going along to any of these please arrive a few minutes early so we can get started on time and wear comfortable stretchy clothing, and shoes suitable for indoor sport.

All training is at the Cricket Schools of the Oxford University Sports Complex on Iffley Road. If you get to the back of the building the Cricket Schools is a small building past the athletics track at the end of the bleachers. Ask at reception if you get lost.

In the interest of accommodating high numbers of people, could we ask you to please regularly attend one of the foil sessions but not both each week. So for now please choose whether you prefer Friday or Sunday each week.

Social

We’re having our first social for all our new fencers right away and hope that lots of you will come! Fresher’s Drinks is taking place at Magdalene college at 8pm in the Oscar Wilde room. Lots of fencers old and new will be there so come along, have fun!

That’s all for now. I hope to see you all soon! Let me know if you have any problems or queries.
