Welcome to the Oxford University Fencing Club website!

President's Welcome

Founded in 1891, Oxford University Fencing Club is one of Britain's oldest and most successful fencing clubs. The club caters for all levels, from beginners to international.

Foil, epee and sabre training are all on offer at the club. Advanced and intermediate fencers receive expert tuition from our club coach, Tomek Walicki, who leads a weekly training session and offers individual lessons throughout the week. In addition there are two club nights every week with free fencing. The quality of fencing is high across all three weapons and many members represent their country internationally.

Good Morning OUFC,

It has been another busy week as the Varsity Match approaches, but with more BUCS success for both Blues teams last Wednesday, we’re guaranteed more matches before the big day. This week’s results are detailed below, as are a few notices about how the whole club can get involved in Varsity.

BUCS Knockout Results

Men’s Blues v Manchester – Won 135 – 62 and progress to next round v Durham
Women’s Blues v York – Walkover so automatically progress to next round v Edinburgh
Women’s Assassins – lost to UCL 1sts. A good performance nonetheless.

DSCF0350This weekend was full of fantastic results for OUFC fencers. Firstly congratulations to members of the women’s seconds sabre team, who entered the Leon Paul Sabre 1 League. Amy Nizolek came 5th after being seeded 2nd but being knocked out by teammate Hannah Schneiders. Natalie Page came 3rd, also knocked out by Hannah, who went on to come second.

The next day, them and the rest of the women’s seconds went to Cambridge to fence their seconds team. Sabre won 45 – 29, epee won 45 – 37 and foil lost 39 – 45, resulting in a 129 – 121 total win for Oxford. Fantastic results for the whole team and bring on Varsity 2014!

Finally, further congratulations to Idalina Baptista and Martina Zagaria who came 2nd and 3rd in the Women’s Foil National Novices event, both of whom were trained and at OUFC. A well earned result for both of them, and congratulations to their beginner coaches as well.
