Welcome to the Oxford University Fencing Club website!

President's Welcome

Founded in 1891, Oxford University Fencing Club is one of Britain's oldest and most successful fencing clubs. The club caters for all levels, from beginners to international.

Foil, epee and sabre training are all on offer at the club. Advanced and intermediate fencers receive expert tuition from our club coach, Tomek Walicki, who leads a weekly training session and offers individual lessons throughout the week. In addition there are two club nights every week with free fencing. The quality of fencing is high across all three weapons and many members represent their country internationally.

News from the President – 6th Week HT13

Written by OUFC Webmaster. Posted in News

Hi everyone,

This week both of our Blues teams travelled very far North for BUCS matches.
The Mens 1sts drove up to Durham and frustratingly lost out by only 4 hits in the quarter finals.
The Womens 1sts also had a quarter final in Edinburgh. They flew up (in British Airways luxury) but sadly were also defeated.
It may be the end of our BUCS campaign but Varsity is just around the corner and we’re all ready to take a fight to Cambridge. Let’s go Dark Blues.

Sports Awards Success

Tomek with his Award

OUFC was represented in two categories at this year’s annual Sports Awards.  Our long serving coach Tomek Walicki was nominated for Coach of the Year and Men’s Captain Satya Gunput was nominated for  Sportsman of the Year. Tomek was also nominated by OUMPA.

Unfortunately Satya was unsuccessful in his category; however it was fantastic to see Tomek win his category against some other strong contenders.  Commiserations to Satya and many congratulations to Tomek – this is a thoroughly deserved award and recognition for all his hard work for the club.
